Salute to the Troops Dinner

sponsored by:

With the 5th Annual Marine Corps Celebrity Classic right around the corner, Camp Lejeune and Jacksonville are planning an exciting evening event to compliment the daytime golf action.

Family Night with the Stars will be held on Saturday, June 7th, at the Parade Field aboard Camp Lejeune.  The night of entertainment will begin at 6:30 P.M. and come to a close at 9:00 P.M.

The event will be brimming with your favorite sports and entertainment stars, visiting Camp Lejeune to participate in the tournament.  While the celebrities will enjoy their opportunity to play a few rounds of golf on the attractive Paradise Point course and also on the Jacksonville Country Club Course, their main purpose is to provide entertainment for our local Marines, Sailors and Coast Guardsmen, and to show their appreciation for the service members dedication and sacrifice.  Just ask Jim McMahon, an NFL Superbowl Champion and participant in the 2007 tournament.

Karg Boys – Biography

The Karg Boys are a harmony driven duo with country roots, an uncanny aptitude for songwriting, and a live show with a beat so explosive, it can turn any dance floor into a youthful cadence.

The brothers began writing, singing, and performing together in 2002 and their act has taken them to all corners of the country including the 20th Annual South by Southwest Music and Media Conference in Austin, Texas, Star of Texas State Fair and Rodeo, and the 2004 National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) Convention in San Diego, California where they received the "Class Act" award and opened for They Might Be Giants.  Since opening up for Steve Holy at the 2004 Mullet Fest in Swansboro, NC, the brother duo has performed at the festival the following 2 years and has also been performing in surrounding areas of Jacksonville, Morehead City, and Wilmington, NC. Most recently the duo played at the 2007 Emerald Isle St. Patrick's Day Festival.

The eldest of the duo, Richard Patrick Karg, Jr. was born in 1981 in Ashland, Ohio.  Two years later, Richard and his family moved to Nashville, TN to pursue his father's dream of songwriting.  Andrew Paul Karg was born in 1983 and has been equally exposed to music as his brother.

In 2005, the Karg Boys signed an exclusive, worldwide publishing/artist development deal with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) Nashville, and are currently preparing for a record label showcase in April 2007.

Since signing with UMPG, Rich and Andy have had the opportunity to collaborate with some of Nashville’s top songwriters and producers including, Rivers Rutherford ("Real Good Man"), Don Schlitz ("The Gambler"), Byron Hill ("Nothin On But the Radio"), Jess Leary ("Where the Green Grass Grows"), Kostas ("Ain't That Lonely Yet"), Phil Everly ("When Will I Be Loved?"), Big Al Anderson ("Unbelievable"), Paul Kennerly ("Young Love Strong Love").

Of course, the Karg Boys are also amazing songwriters and performers themselves.  They have been influenced by other duos such as the Everly Brothers and Simon and Garfunkel, as well as hit groups and artists like Dwight Yoakam, the Mavericks, the Beatles and Coldplay.  The guys credit their father, Dick Karg, as being influential in their songwriting and would like to thank eastern NC for supporting them over the past four years.  Rich and Andy are thrilled to be performing at the Marines Corps Celebrity Golf Family Night this year.  Keep your eyes out for these guys.  The best is yet to come!
